In Animal Form

If I were to be an animal, I would be a tiger. There are many reasons for this. One is that tigers are powerful and strong. Another is that tigers are recognized as most popular of the great cats. “Tiger” is Greek for “Tigris” meaning arrow for there speed, which I am. Tigers are very strong because of there size and weight, which is an advantage. The tiger is known as “King of the Beasts” in other countries. This relates to me because I have lots of leadership skills. Tigers also have very strong jaws. I could tear open a cardboard box with mine! I remember the first time I went to the zoo and saw a tiger. From that point on I knew that’s what I wanted to be.

If I was to pick an animal for Mrs. Chapman, it would have to be an elephant. The elephant is a symbol of wisdom, in Asian cultures. This relates to her because she is very smart. Aristotle once explained elephants “to surpass all animals in wit and mind.” Many female elephant groups are lead by the eldest female. In other words, age is a good thing. Elephants are very social creatures, just like Mrs. C! Elephants are mostly gentle. There is only one exception, territory. If too many elephants get into a group, one elephant teaches the group a lesson. This is closely related to an over-crowded and loud classroom. They have VERY good hearing. They will even choose not to hear things at times. This is relating to her because she has selective hearing. Elephants are very emotional creatures. They can laugh and have a good time with other elephants as well. Elephants are very wise. The elephant is known, also, for its memory. It is said to never forget a thing. Mrs. Chapman has a very good memory and rarely forgets anything important.

A Hymn

"Living for Jesus a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do,
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me."
"Living for Jesus Who died in my place,
Bearing on Calv'ry my sin and disgrace,
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all."
"Living for Jesus wher-ev-er I am,
Doing each duty in His Holy Name,
Willing to suffer affliction or loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
"Living for Jesus through earth's little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of his smile,
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
"O Jesus, Lord my Saviour, I give myself to Thee;
For Thou, in Thy atonement,
Dist give myself up for me,
I own no other master, My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for the alone.

Cappy, this is for you!

I see a face, so tired and weary,
Yet he loves me, all the same.
I see a hand, rough as sandpaper,
Yet he guides me all the same.
I see a heart, worn with the years,
Yet he cares in every way.
I see a man, with weary eyes,
Yet he sees the wrong in every way.
I see my Cappy, standing strong,
Who's had ups and downs, but stood his own.
He has stood up for me, and loved me,
And with this, I know he cares.

The Country

It has been so cold where I live. I can't even explain how cold it is here. When you look outside and its raining, sun-shining, or even snowing, what do you think about? Do you get sleepy and go take a nap, or do you go outside and play ball? I always think about how lucky I am not to live in the city. I have cold, windy days most of the time now. Though in the summer, there are clear blue skies, green grass, and the smell of fresh hay needing to be cut. If you ever go to the country in the summertime, you'll never want to go back to the city. I have always loved the city cites, but the land out in the country cannot be beat. I leave you with that thought, city-folk. Think about it.

My Poem

Life is but one thing,
One thing, that when you find that one thing, everything else means nothing.
Life is not just of living because you can,
but it is a present of God and a sacrifice of Jesus.
It is a gift,
that should be treasured every minute of every day.

"Working The Cows"

Ever since I was young, my close-in-proximity family would all get together on the farm and "work the cows". That means that we give the cows their shots and flea medicine. When I first had to twist a cows tail to give her a shot, it felt great! I felt very grown up. My hands turned red from her fur! Cappy said that I did an excellent job. One year, I had just learned Spanish numbers, and we working them. We were doing it on the first of January, and this cow went into labor. She had a black bull. It was so exciting! I was the only child at the time who would help clean him. So, I got to name him! I named him Uno. Since that's Spanish for one.

The steps that we take are very complicated. Here they are. One, round up all the cows and put them in pins. Two, if they turn around in line or won't go through, shock them. This will make them line up in front of the shoot. Three, put pipes behind the first two cows next in line to go into the shoot. Four, let a little room at the end so it thinks it will go all the way through.(But it really can't) Five, when it tries to run, clamp it's neck with the clamps. Six, give it a full injection of the pink medicine and give the babies (if it comes through) a full one of yellow. Seven, fill a cup of blue medicine and pour it up and down its back. Finally, release the cow to the pasture.

As you can see, these steps are very complicated. Although, when your doing 35 times, you get the hang of it. I have done this for at least 7 years, and I love doing it! I have always loved working on the farm with Cappy and the rest of my family.
